Pictures From The Promote The Vote Rally In North Philadelphia
“I need y’all to be really really quiet for this. I need you to really understand what I’m telling you,” Jay-Z said. “Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther King could walk. Martin Luther King walked so Obama could run. Obama’s running so we all can fly.” Beautiful.
Jay Z, Diddy, Mary J. Blige, Kevin Lyles, Beyonce and even the men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. came out to the tough streets of North Philly…where I was born and raised…to promote the vote for Barack Obama. The people turned out in record numbers. Shout out to my mom for going out and taking these pictures for me. Unfortunately I had to work.
People the time is now. The hour is drawing near. Remember learning about Black History when you were little in elementary school? Remember having to fight for black people to get the recognition they deserved? Imagine that you can make history now. No one will ever be able to take that away from you. No one can take away the feeling you get on November 4, 2008 when you cast your vote for Barack Obama! No one can erase the mark we’ll leave on history by voting for change. I can’t even begin to express what I feel inside right now. To be able to look at the President of the United States and see someone who looks like me, who understands my struggles and the struggles we go through daily is overwhelming. Some people will be voting for the first time and there couldn’t be a better time to vote. This is the biggest election in US History. Don’t get lost in the crowd. Speak up and be heard by casting your votes for Barack Obama on November 4th! Jay Z said today at the rally, “We CAN’T hold your hands anymore.” You’ve made sure you’re registered. You watched the debates. You’ve been to the rallys. LET’S GET OUT AND VOTE FOR CHANGE THIS NOVEMBER 4, 2008! OBAMA! OBAMA! OBAMA!
